Renal response to maltodextrin and training at different intensities
Abstract
Objective: to investigate the renal response to ingestion of maltodextrin and aerobic or anaerobic training in mice. Materials and methods: The protocol consisted of 8 weeks of swimming aerobic (5% overload) or anaerobic (10% overload). During 37 days, the animals were supplemented with a daily dose of 0.48 g.Kg-1 maltodextrin dissolved in water or with water only. Results: The anaerobic training caused increases in concentrations of uric acid, creatinine and total protein and reduction in renal glycogen, and maltodextrin caused an increase in kidney glycogen. Conclusion: maltodextrin and anaerobic training provided changes in parameters of renal function of this organ in response to these external stimuli.
