Abstract

The objective of this study was to verify the effects of previous aerobic cycling exercise at 50 and 100rev.min-1 on the muscular strength. Ten active males participated of
the conditions control (C) and experimental at 50 (R50) and 100rev.min-1 (R100). In the C condition it was performed three series of maximal repetitions in the legpress 45°, with
the workload corresponding to 10RM. In the conditions R50 and R100 theses series were performed after 30 minutes of exercise at anaerobic threshold (3.5mM of blood lactate). The number of repetitions at the condition R100 (21.9 + 6.29) was significantly lower than at R50 (27.80 + 3.19) and C (30.0 + 1.05) conditions. Thus, the effects of aerobic exercise performed in cycling on the subsequent muscular strength can be dependent on the pedal cadence.
